Facing a Raging River?
I came to the swift, raging river
And the roar held the echo of fear;
“Oh, Lord give me wings to fly over,
If you are, as you promised quite near.”
But, He said, “Trust the grace I am giving,
All pervasive, sufficient for you,
Take my hand, we will face this together.
But, my plan is not over, but through.”
I felt as though we were facing such a river at the time of this writing, but I have the assurance that God will take care of me/us. I can rest in his unchanging promises. And when I fret over situations and circumstances it does not negate His care, His promises, His faithfulness, it just shows my humanness, my flesh, my weakness and desire to see things happen in order to believe. At such times His word guides me back to faith in Him, and His faithfulness. The just shall live by faith not by sight. The just, those who trust the Lord know that they have an advocate who opened the way for them to go boldly before the throne of grace to obtain mercy and to find grace to help in the time of need. The just know that putting their trust in the Lord rather than leaning on themselves (our abilities) assures that He is guiding their path even through treacherous terrain. You see He does not promise to take us out of difficulties, to miraculously transport us from one side of the difficulty to the other without having to go through it. No, His promise is to go through it with us. To be with us navigating the way as we keep our eyes focused on Him. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your path.” Prov. 3:5
How else could we know how great he is?
