                      Bird Watching

Black birds scurried around the yard looking for the seed. Watching them fly in they are black, noisy, have beady yellow eyes, and there are usually many of them traveling together. They hop, shuffle through the grass, going in and out of the shade and sunshine.
WOW!! What a transformation. In the shade they are just dull, black birds.

But as they move into the sunlight their feathers explode into a rainbow of colors: purple, green, blue, copper and various shades in between. Glossy, bright, shimmering, spectacular color! Unexpectedly shining so bright and vivid, then into the shade and the colors are gone.

But are they gone? No, not gone. Just unseen.  It takes the rays of the sun light to reveal the hidden shades of the rainbow.

Much like it takes the ‘Light’ of the ‘Son’ (Jesus) to reveal the hidden fruit of His Spirit in those who believe Him: love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. (Galatians 5:22,23)

And I had to ask myself: “Am I walking in the Spirit in such a way that the colors i.e. fruit of the Lord are revealed to those around me, or am I walking in the shade of myself obscuring them from view of others?

Lord, guide my steps that I may walk in the Light to reveal the fruit of the Spirit to those around me.

Let Your Light Shine Through Me Lord
