Man of His Word. A Conclusion and A Beginning.

The end has come.
Jesus has been laid in the tomb with a boulder across the entrance. The apostles and other followers have scattered in despair. Since it had been a holy day when he was crucified the burial preparations had been abbreviated. After the observance of the Sabbath day, early in the morning several of the women go back to the tomb to finish the anointing of His body.

What they encountered left them amazed and astonished.
The boulder was rolled away.

There was someone in the tomb but not Jesus and this someone was alive! He said to them: “There is no need to be astonished. He has risen; he is not here. Look, here is the place where they laid him. But now go and tell his disciples, and Peter, that he will be in Galilee before you. You will see him there just as he told you.” (Mark 16:7)

He had told His followers He would rise on the 3rd day.
(Mark 8:31; 9:31; 10:33)
He had told them they would find Him in Galilee after His resurrection.
(Mark 14:28)

They did not believe He had risen when the women and others told them.
They did not go to Galilee in search of Him.

Yet, HE was true to HIS Word.
           HE DID rise.
           HE DID go to Galilee.

Finally, the 11 were all together and Jesus appeared to them. “He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart” (16:14) then proceeded to commission them to go and tell: whoever believes will be saved.

Then at some point later: “the Lord Jesus was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.” (16:19)

Today, HE sits at the right of hand of God UNTIL…
…It is time to fulfill HIS LAST PROMISE:
“Then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great                              power and glory.” Mark 13:26
“I am (the Messiah)”, said Jesus, “and all of you will see
the Son of Man  seated at the right hand of Power and coming
with the clouds of  heaven.” Mark 14:61,62

You can count on it.

“ The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said:
“The kingdom of the world has become
the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah,
and he will reign forever and ever.” Revelation 11:15

“…KING OF KINGS and LORD OF LORDS.” Revelation 19:16

I heard this song recently. To me it seems to be a wonderful summary to end the book of Mark with. Won’t you read the words and listen to the message with an open heart  - whether of inquiry or gratitude.

The moon and stars they wept
The morning sun was dead
The Savior of the world was fallen
His body on the cross
His blood poured out for us
The weight of every curse upon him
One final breath He gave
As Heaven looked away
The Son of God was laid in darkness
A battle in the grave
The war on death was waged
The power of hell forever broken
The ground began to shake
The stone was rolled away
His perfect love could not be overcome
Now death where is your sting
Our resurrected King has rendered you defeated
Forever, He is glorified
Forever, He is lifted high
Forever, He is risen
He is alive
He is alive

In His death, he opened the door to the Beginning of life that's completed in you. He did this for you.
